It was a lovely summers day, the _____________ was shining high in the sky.

Freddy the ____________ was walking over an old stone bridge to cross the stream. He was on his way to visit his friend who lived in the field on the other side.

Freddy's fiery red ____________ was making him feel very hot. When he got to the other side of the bridge he saw Woofy the dog.

'Hello Woofy' said Freddy

'Do you want to come with me to see my friend Sharon the _______________?'

Woofy flopped down onto the ____________ grass.

'No thanks Freddy it is so ____________ today I am feeling far too sleepy'

Woofy ____________ his eyes and straight away fell fast asleep.

Freddy strolled along the path. The stones on the path _____________ very hot for his paws. When he reached the ______________ he climbed over the _______________.

'Where are you Sharon?' ______________ Freddy

'Over here' said Sharon

Sharon was standing by the pond, looking at the ______________. The slippery, slimy frogs were _______________ around the pond. They looked like they were having great ______________.

'Sharon it is so hot today shall we go for a walk into the shady _____________?' said Freddy.

Sharon sheep ______________with fear.

'No, no, no I am too ____________ to go into that horrible dark forest.

Freddy was not afraid. He set off for the forest. It was cool and shady under the trees. Suddenly Freddy stopped.

'What is that horrid _________' screamed Freddy.

On the forest floor was a dark _____________. Freddy was frightened. Then a hissing voice said

'It's a stink monster'

Freddy looked around he saw Slippery the ______________.

'There are no such things as stink monsters' said Freddy.

'Oh yesssss there are' ____________ Slippery and then he____________ off into the bushes.

Freddy stood still. Could that smell really be coming from a stink monster?

He moved closer to the dark shape on the floor. He stared at the shape then _____________laughed.

What do you think he ____________? It was not a stink monster, but it was an old _____________ and inside the shoe was a very smelly _____________. Sleeping curled up in the sock was a small ________________ called Harry.

The hedgehog opened his eyes and said

'Hello Freddy, how do you like my new _______________?'

'Well' said Freddy 'it is a bit smelly but other than that it seems _______________'

Freddy told Harry that he had thought his ______________ was a stink monster.

Harry laughed

'You must have had a ______________ when you saw me inside the shoe'

'Yes' said Freddy 'but I am glad I _____________ you and not a monster!'

Freddy said

'I _____________ go home now, goodbye Harry'
