Speech Therapy.... Think of a ......game
Ideas on how to create this game using your own p.c.
- Open your word processing package (e.g. Word in Microsoft Office or
preferably Publisher)
- Create a square text box (approx 2.8cm x 2.8cm)
- Increase the font size to 36pt.
- Center the text.
- Put a border on the text box ( thickness 10pt)
- Copy and paste the text box to fill your page.
- Its probably about time to save your work!
- Type the letters you have chosen to use in the game into the text
boxes one by one.
- Change the colour of the borders use different colours for each square
( Try selecting format - borders - colour )
- In a few of the text boxes reduce the font size to 12pt and type go
back or forward instructions e.g. go back 2, go ahead 3 etc.
- In a few of the text boxes draw in a picture box.
- Import a picture from clipart e.g. a rabbit or cat etc. to make your
action squares. The pictures I used are available in the clipart section
of this site.
- Print out as many pages as you need to fill your board game
- A4 size needs approx 50 squares.
- A3 size needs approx 100 squares.
- Create start and finish circles
- Draw a circle ( in Word if you hold the shift
key down while drawing the circle with the oval tool in the drawing
toolbar you will get a perfect circle. Can't find the drawing toolbar?
select view - toolbars - select drawing )
- Fill the circle with colour (look for the
fill bucket on the drawing toolbar)
- Add a text box and type START.
- Copy the circle and text box together, to
link these two press shift while selecting each part.
- Paste the copied circle, move this next to
the first circle.
- Now change the fill colour in the second circle
and change the text to FINISH.
- Create Oops! cards
- Draw a text box (approx 6cm x 9cm)
- Center the text
- Select font size 36pt
- Put a border on the box.
- Copy and paste 3 times.
- Type
- Go back 1
- Go back 2
- Go back 3
- Go back to start
- Print off about 5 sets
- Stick Oops! on the reverse side of the cards.
