General Education...... Garden Writing

Introduction

Garden writing is designed to help children  form their letters and position them correctly on a line.

This activity was shown to me by Mrs Cole, Beth's primary support teacher.

Activity

Draw 3 coloured lines with highlighter pen as shown below.

Top line = blue = sky

Second line = green = grass

Third line = orange = mud

When your child is practicing writing explain that

• Small letters - sit on the grass.
  • a, c, e, i, m, n, o, r, s, u, v, w, x, z
• Tall letters - start in the sky and sit on the grass.
  • b, d, f, h, k, l, t
• Tail letters - start in the grass and their tails go down into the mud.
  • g, j, p, q, y
