New diagnosis - apraxia
«

Hi, I'm Sara and my son has just been diagnosed with Apraxia. He is 28 months.
Unfortunately, we live in Bermuda at the moment, and there is no availability for him to get into speech therapy at the moment. There simply aren't enough SLTs on the island to go around, so we will have to wait to start formal therapy in the summer, when we return to the UK. However, I want to start working with him myself, but have no idea where to begin. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Sara

Hi Sara,
As your child is only young I would say that the normal speech sound therapy used for children with apraxia would need a lot of tweaking. Is he using any sounds at the moment? If you want to give me a ring or email me you can find my details under the 'find a therapist' topic of the forum. I can then offer you some better advice or ideas of how to help him.
